linen pillow covers DIY Place Card and Wedding Menu personalized wedding gifts

2020-01-18 06:42

Such a fun post to share today! I was recently challenged to create a unique DIY place card and wedding menu using products from Xyron and Anna Griffin and I am so excited to share what I came up with! I received the biggest box EVER of craft supplies from Anna Griffin & Xyron –; I had so much fun looking through all the gorgeous papers, add-ons and more. It was actually pretty?tough to decide what to use out of all the beautiful options. I'm even sharing a tutorial of how I put it all together –; so without further ado…; check out my DIY?below!

Here's a shot of all the items I used to make this project.

boudoir pillow cases

First I made the layered menu. I used a 5×;7 piece of gold shimmery paper included in?a pack of pre-cut layering papers. Then, I took a patterned piece of scrapbook paper and trimmed it to 4.5 x 6.5 using an Xacto knife and ruler. I love my Xacto knife that has the padding on it, it's much more comfortable to cut with!

Then I printed my menu design, and trimmed it to size. I created a free download?for Microsoft Word if you want to download / print your own!

That left me with 3 layers. I used the Xyron Tape Runner to affix the layers. I just eyeballed it to make sure the papers were all centered.?

Nextlinen pillow covers, I took a pre-cut piece of paper,?that was about half a sheet of letter lengthwise, and used the Anna Griffin Edge Pattern Punch to crop a scalloped edge to both sides of the paper.

Then I took the layered menu and laid it near the top of the punched paper, and folded the paper upwards to make a pocket.?

This left me with a pocket for the menu. Next I punched out a circle from some of the same gold paper I used for the back of the menu.?

Then I took a floral piece?from one of the Anna Griffin flower packs and ran it through my Xyron sticker maker! It instantly turned the flower into a sticker, which I then placed onto the circle punch.

Next I took an Anna Griffin border piece?in a blue / turquoise?pattern and I wrapped the piece around the pocket from back to front. This not only added a little extra color / flair but it also served as a way to keep the menu from slipping out either side of the pocket! I used my Xyron Tape Runner to stick the border piece closed.?

Then I used the Xyron Tape Runner to affix the circle / flower onto the center of the border piece.?

I used a banner / flag piece from the Anna Griffin collection as the place to write your guest names –; which I then affixed to the pocket with the tape runner.?

The finished product!

As you can see the two pieces are separate, and you can slip the menu inside the pocket, which also serves as a place card. I personally love the way this design looks on top of a place setting! Super classic and chic!

What do you think of my project?

Welcome, friends! As a longarmer and pattern designer, one of the my favorite things to do is look at old linens and quilts, and find inspiration. Recently, I came across a couple of vintage quilts that were created by hand-embroidering the design and then quilting around it. I thought it would be fun to make my own version of this style using my BERNINA 790 for the embroidery and my BERNINA Longarm Q 24 for the quilting. This is a two-part post, where I tackle the embroidery first!

Neck pillows have many uses, depending on how they are shaped and what they are stuffed with. If you are going on a trip, and need to take a nap, a horseshoe-shaped pillow stuffed with polyester stuffing will make your nap more comfortable. If you wake up with a stiff neck, then a tube-shaped pillow stuffed with rice will make you feel better (after you heat it up, of course!).
