Hello friends! You may remember that this time last year, I participated in the Knock Out Knock Off series with some of my very talented friends {click here to see my other knock off projects}! #knockoutknockoffs Well, it’s that time again this year! Since May I have beenparticipating in the Knock Out Knock Off series with a phenomenal group of talented bloggers. Each month, we have broughtyou knock off projects from some of your favorite retailers: Anthropologiefrench linen pillow covers, Land of Nod, and CB2. This month we are back for our final installment and are tackling one of my absolute favorite stores: Crate and Barrel. Buckle your seat belts….you are in for a treat! BE SURE TO CHECK OUT THE PROJECTS FROM MY FRIENDS AT THE END OF THIS POST–THEY ARE AWESOME!

As you know, we have been working on our dining room makeover {you can check out our progress so far here}. We are VERY close to being done, so I am already planning on hosting lots of dinners in the near future. That has me thinking about creating a beautiful tablescape and every beautiful tablescape needs the perfect place card holders, right?!

When I saw these wood slice place card holders at Crate and Barrel, I was instantly in love! And to tell you the truth, they are not expensive, BUT I had wood slices left over from my Anthropologie inspired stacked wood slice lamp so I decided to make my own. It's incredibly easy and much less expensive than the Crate and Barrel version.

1) Clamp a wood slice in the center of your clamping miter box.

2) Use your hand saw to saw a shallow channel down the center of your wood slice.

3) Print and place your card holders in the channel. I printed mine on plain white card stock and cut them to size.

THAT'S IT! Seriously, that's the easiest DIY project I have ever tackled and I am absolutely in love with these place card holders.

Now, before you head out, please be sure to check out the other amazing Crate and Barrel inspired projects from my talented friends! Click on the links below the image to head directly to their blogs for more details!

Thinking of starting your holiday sewing? This Nordic-inspired pillow will look great on your couch this holiday season, and it’s the perfect complement to my Fair Isle Christmas quilt pattern.

Hello! My name is Mandy Leins of Mandalei Quilts, and I am a longarmer, pattern designer, and book author. While I almost always label my quilts, this last year was so busy that I didn’t get to attaching information to everything. That got me thinking about the ways we label our quilts, and I wanted to try something a little different. This tutorial is how I used the built-in alphabets on my BERNINA 790 to add text to the binding itself. Because my BERNINA is capable of a 9mm stitch width, I have provided the cutting instructions I used. Machines with a narrow stitch width may be able to use strips cut slightly less wide.

We got home this week from a 3 week-long road trip (I think I may have mentioned that already, I feel like I’m starting to sound like a broken record *wink*). Now that we are home, summer has finally settled in at our house. ?Along with it has come lazy days, hot humid air, peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, and an overall feeling of laziness. If it would ever stop raining that feeling would be amplified by the smell of sunscreen and chlorine. ?Our recent rainy weather has given us an “extra” excuse to lay around the house all day (like we need more than one excuse? to do that*wink*)… ?I’m not saying that like it’s a bad thing. A little down time every once in a while is good for the soul.
